Today the PS3 turned a year old. In the year, 200 games have been released and 60 million downloads have been made on the PS Network. Precocious little scamp, eh?
Jack Tretton, our favorite CEO of a failing division, had this to say:
When we designed PS3 our goal was to introduce a system so technically advanced that it could stand the test of time and could take the industry in a whole new direction, which for PS3 was high-definition entertainment. While we're excited by the progress we've made this first year, we know that like our other platforms, the best is still yet to come, especially given our new hardware and software line-up, and that PS3 will continue to take the industry to new heights for years to come.
So, the new Xbox Originals service, launching December 4, will not have achievements. Microsoft says the reason is to keep the integrity of the original gaming experience. So, the games will be available as they were at launch.
We would have liked the achievement points, but we understand keeping things classic. We still have an Atari 2600.
We here at PLuGHiTz Live! love us some lesbians. It's a good thing we're safe and sound here in the US and not in Singapore, where they apparently don't like them at all. They have banned
Mass Effect from being released there because of an inter-species lesbian sex scene. Come on Singapore, is two women having sex worse than caning someone for littering? Really?
Everyone loves the Boss Battle songs on
Guitar Hero 3. Now, you can download them for FREE (if you have a 360). So, if you want to play Slash's Song, Tom Morello's Song and The Devil Went Down To Georgia by The Devil, then go check out the downloads section!
Fable tradition, insulting villagers in Fable 2 will once again earn you a fun name, like "Arseface." However, this time, they want your help.
Jump onto the community (from the link), and submit your favorite insults to be included in the new game. Here are the rules:
The insults should be puerile, but not too puerile, sound at least somewhat original, and not cross a certain line (as an example, "gobshite" has been rejected because, while it might sound funny and wacky to American ears, it's still a bit too strong for Fable and British ears). The thing to remember is that it's a way for Fable villagers to call the Hero an arsehole because they hate him/her and obviously needs to work for both genders.
We here at PLuGHiTz Live! feel that any attempt to help a charity is a good idea, and when it comes along with participating in videogames, it is even better. So, we were really excited to hear that an MMO Calendar had been produced for 2008, with proceeds going to help
St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
The calendar will be illustrated with original artwork from the universes of some of the great MMOs. In addition to the calendar, and helping children, you will also get the possibility of being part of Betas and passes to games.
