Star Wars: Celebration V - The Film Giant: Warwick Davis!!!!

posted Friday Aug 13, 2010 by Josh Henry

Today, Jon and I got the opportunity to see the one, the only, our little film giant, Warwick Davis. If the name isn't ringing some bells for everyone out there, you may recognize him from films such as, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Willow and a little series called Harry Potter. Ever heard of it? In Star Wars he played a young Ewok named Wicket, in Willow he played Willow, and in Harry Potter he played various roles such as Professor Flitwick, and Griphook.

The person who interviewed both Warwick and Mark Hamil earlier in the day was a man by the name of Jay Laga'aia who starred in films such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (I am starting to see a theme here) and some more recent films like Daybreakers, and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.

For more about the interview, hit the break.

The interview was fantastic and was filled with stories of Warwick and his career, accompanied by witty banter between Laga'aia and the "Film Giant". My personal favorite moments would first have to be when we all got a charms lesson taught to us by Professor Flitwick, second when he and Laga'aia both re-enacted the final duel in Episode I between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi and third was when we got to see an exclusive pilot for a show he is working on, which was absolutely hilarious.

It was really refreshing to me to see such a big celebrity (no pun intended), be so down to earth and so accepting of his fame and everything that comes along with it, like raving fanboys and people begging him for autographs. He left us with a message of "If you think it, why not try it?" meaning that if you think you want to do something, whether it's auditioning for a role in a movie or something as simple as finding a new job, you should quit pondering whether or not you should do it and just do it.
