Chile First Country to Guarantee Net Neutrality

We've talked about net neutrality since this show started over three seasons ago and have been following the developments in business, federal and international policies and laws regarding it. New to net neutrality discussions or need a brush-up on some of the topics? Here's some reference:

All caught up? Good. Now, the consensus for the consumer community is that we all want net neutrality and the freedom to post what we want, where we want it, within the confines of ethical, moral and legal principles. ISPs, however, absolutely despise even the notion of such freedom and things of that sort. The politicians in the now amazing country of Chile and their Board of the Chamber of Deputies, though, have concluded that they absolutely love net neutrality!

Follow the break to see what they've done.

Intel Hires Former Palm Exec as New VP for Smartphones

I know everyone was curious and extremely interested to see what HP would do after buying Palm a couple months ago and the only things we've seen so far are a possible line of WebOS printers and a huge amount of departures from the company and the merger. The most recent casualty is the former Senior VP for Product Development, Mike Bell. Bell had served 16 years at Apple before jumping ship to work for Jon Rubinstein but has now donned the color of blue, as he will be joining Intel to become the new Vice President for the smartphone division. More specifically, Bell will act as the Director of Smartphone Product Development in Intel's Ultra Mobility group.

As we have been telling you, Intel has been looking to get into the smartphone market for quite some time, and a man of Mike Bell's stature guiding them may be just the thing they need to propel them to the top quickly, or at least allow them to hit the ground running in the right direction.

Click past the break to read the company email sent revealing Mr. Bell's arrival to the company.

They Know What You Like And They Know What You Want

In yet another testament to science fiction becoming science fact a revolution has started in the advertising industry all the way across the world in none other than Japan. Take a trip back to June 21st. 2002 when Minority Report staring Tom Cruise was released. The personalized digital ads seen in the movie have become a reality. The digital billboards displaying these ads are outfitted with cameras that can determine gender and age group even if you are just passing by and glance at the billboard.

Google Wants More Face Time Than Facebook

Google Wants More Face Time Than Facebook

The world is more than familiar with social networking giant Facebook and this is starting to scare Google a little bit. That is an odd statement to make and I had some concern that a hole would rip in space and time but it's true, and maybe they should be.

For those of us who have ever used Orkut which is Google's social networking project. You will immediately notice a user interface that is quite lacking in aesthetics and functionality. This is probably due to the fact that Orkut has been a back burner project for quite some time. Google also realized that Buzz was not enough to break into social networking properly. Adam D'Angelo, a former Facebook director, shared what he has heard about a full scale Google social networking site called Google Me:

1 vs 100 Still Has No Third Season

1 vs 100 has met another tragic fate, this time on Xbox Live. Microsoft announced this week that it will not be renewing 1 vs 100 for a third season.

Dave McCarthy, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios, said,

When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept. We're very proud of the '1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming.
