California To Vito Ultra Violent Video Games, Supreme Court Will Decide

California To Vito Ultra Violent Video Games, Supreme Court Will Decide

This week video games reached a new precedent by making their way to the very top of the U.S. justice system, the Supreme Court. The same place where Alan Shore saved his friend Denny's life on Boston Legal, just as a point of reference. Except this time it's not representatives from Boston doing the arguing, it's the Golden State of California vs. the Supreme Court and video games.

I'm going to break this down into a couple parts and try to keep it simple just in case Steve Jobs reads this. However, I would urge you to read over the transcripts if you are interested in learning more, and I hope you are. Don't worry, they are actually quite comical at times.

Hit the break to find out why California has brought ultra-violent video games into the limelight and what this could mean for you.

iPhone Creates an Extra Hour in Europe

iPhone Creates an Extra Hour in Europe

This is part public service announcement and part great technology fail. Apple this week managed to create an extra hour in Europe. Unfortunately, this did not work out for many users of the iPhone who were not expecting bonus time.

Apparently a software glitch in the iPhone caused the alarm to go off an hour later than it was supposed to. Why did this happen? Daylight Savings Time happens at a different time for them than it does for us here in the US and the phone, while updating the clock, did not seem to update the timing between regular alarms.

Google VS The USA

Google VS The USA

We have done a lot of legal stories here on The UpStream but none quite as interesting as this one. Google has sued the United States Government. Now, we know Google is not afraid to take on a government, but they don't usually go after the country they operate out of.

Why has Google sued the US government? It's because they are offended by one of the stipulations in a contract that they are bidding for with the Department of the Interior.

What stipulation has them so mad they are suing? Hit the break to find out.

Xbox 360 Dashboard Enhancements are a Go

Xbox 360 Dashboard Enhancements are a Go

It is official - the Xbox 360 Dashboard update we have all been waiting for has arrived and it is downloading to a 360 near you. Now before you get all excited, remember that Dashboard updates rollout gradually over the course of a few days to prevent server overload. If you sign in today and do not get an update notice, don't panic: you will get it within a few days.

More importantly, as Major Nelson reminds us, DO NOT sign off and on over and over waiting for the update. This will not grant you faster access to the download, it will only anger your friends who will see the notifications every time you sign back on. Trust me, the new Dashboard is not worth losing your Modern Warfare clan.

What can you expect from the new Xbox 360 Dashboard? Hit the break to find out.

Jobs' 'Open' Opinion

Jobs' 'Open' Opinion

It seems like I can't go one week without Steve Jobs finding some imaginative way to say and/or do something that I feel compelled to write about for a variety of personal reasons that originate from a dark and scary place with enchanted creatures. Similar adjectives may be used by some to describe Jobs himself and if you consider that blasphemy then this article probably isn't for you.

Hit the break to find out how the world is according to Steve.
