Google Sues Scammers, Hires Lawyer From Nigeria

Pacific WebWorks and a few other unnamed companies received some shocking news this week, Google has taken out a lawsuit against them. Pacific WebWorks, has been scamming customers with fraudulent work-at-home schemes for some time now. Why is Google is involved? Well, the companies participating in these schemes used Google's name, as well as logo, to promote their illegal activity and scam customers out of a lot of money.

According to a blog posted by Google, "Thousands of people have been tricked into sending payment information and being charged hidden fees by questionable operations."

WebWorks responded by saying, "We have always cooperated with Google."

While searching for work-at-home opportunities on the Internet, pop ups would appear, reading "Easy Cash with Google: You could be Making up to $978 a Day Working from home!" Google has not condoned any of these advertisements.

Apparently this happens far too often. Because of Google's well-known status, many people take advantage of the company by using the name in their fraudulent scams. According the the Better Business Bureau, over 3,000 complaints were filed against work-at home companies in 2008. In the last year alone, the BBB has received almost 400 complaints about Pacific WebWorks. Most of these were left unresolved. With so many work-at-home opportunities, it's important to look into the legitimacy of the company before committing.

Google expects to be victorious with this lawsuit, especially considering the rap sheet WebWorks carries behind them. Maybe you should think twice before scamming thousands of people out of their money, especially when it involves a company as big as Google!
